Law Office of Robert L Keates, PLLC

In 2008, Mr. Keates was awarded the Don Simms Award for Attorney of the Year within the Public Defenders Office. Mr. Keates has vast experience in arguing legal defenses along with highlighting violations of arrests and missing evidence from a defense perspective; he has never been a prosecutor and therefore has real courtroom experience on how to truly defend your case. Now, back in Austin Texas, the Law Office of Robert L. Keates is ready to put his courtroom knowledge and aggressive trial experience to work for you.

After graduating with concentrations in both Criminal Law and Constitutional Law from Law School, he obtained his LL.M. Masters of Law Degree in Criminal Law from California Western School of Law, one of only two Universities at the time in the United States that offered such a program. Robert L. Keates began his legal career as a criminal defense attorney, handling a multitude of criminal jury trials and cases from simple assaults and DWI / DUI to complex felonies such as robbery, computer crimes, and drug sales.

I Highly Endorse this Lawyer

I highly endorse this lawyer. His knowledge of the law is superb and his dedication to his clients yields results that exceed expectations. Moreover, his commitment is matched by his skills in the courtroom. Having worked alongside Mr. Keates for several years as a public defender, he never ceased to impress; even on the most difficult cases. I can honestly say that if I needed legal representation on a criminal matter, he would be the first person I would ask for help.

Answers

Does my sister need an attorney for a first DUI charge? Yes. It's punishable by not only potential jailtime, but a myriad of possible punishments. Even if she's going to plea, it's best to have an attorney arrange the bargain and avoid many unneeded and piled on punishments. Plus, DWIs are a complex type of case that involves much more than "I blew higher than .08%). There may be legal issues that could help in plea negotiations.
